Transport in Aix-en-Provence

Sharing

If you choose to come and study on the Aix-Marseille campus and live in one of our student residences in Aix-en-Provence, you'll want to know about the public transport on offer. Don't worry, there are many options all over the city. From one district to another, from strolls outside the city to short trips to Marseille, Avignon or Nîmes, getting around by public transport is easy with frequent services.

Getting around Aix-en-Provence by public transport

  • By bus: the Aix en Bus network serves most areas of the city, including the city centre, the Jas de Bouffan district, Val Saint-André, Pont de l'Arc, Les Milles - by the airpot, and Encagnane in the north of the city. Several bus routes also serve the Aix-Marseille campus. The city offers affordable student travel rates
  • By bike: Aix has self-service bike stations available to all. So it’s easy to get around any part of Aix-en-Provence. There are dedicated cycle paths in various districts and along the city's main roads.
  • On foot: of course, the most reliable means of transport is walking, discover the city and avoid the hassle of traffic and parking; the city's main sites are within easy walking distance.

Discover the area around Aix by train or car-sharing

If you want to go further afield, get out of the city and discover the region, there are at least these two options:

  • By train: there are many trains from Aix-en-Provence TGV station to Marseille, Nice and Avignon.
  • Carpooling: via online platforms or by getting together with other students or local residents, organise short trips together and share the cost. It's still the best way to combine business with pleasure!
