Which Rouen district should you choose for your studies?

Choosing an area to live in during your university years is important, and your choice depends on your individual tastes and needs. Different districts have different appeals do you love to party or are you looking for peace and quiet? Here's a snapshot of some of Rouen's four most popular districts for students.

Rouen's popular student districts

These locations are among the most popular with young people and those involved in student life. You'll have to make up your own mind about Rouen's 12 districts, but here are 4 that are very popular with students:

  • Quartier Saint-Sever: located in the heart of Rouen's left bank, this is a business district that appeals to students. It has lots of shops and excellent transport links to universities and schools.
  • Quartier Pasteur: a student district par excellence, within walking distance of the University of Rouen and Institut d'Études Politiques (Sciences Po). With its lively atmosphere, it generally appeals to those who like to be around people.
  • Quartier Saint-Clément - Jardin des Plantes: located on the left bank of the Seine, this is a very pleasant area to live, between the city centre and green spaces. It's a quiet, residential area with great public transport links. It's perfect for studious types who love the calm.
  • Quartier Saint-Marc: here you'll find peace and quiet and a village atmosphere, close to the city centre. Leafy yet lively, this is an interesting area for those who like peace and quiet as much as going out for a drink in beautiful surroundings!
